Bassano del Grappa

An important production and commercial center located on the Brenta bank, at the foot of Monte Grappa and the Asiago plateau. The town boasts ancient Roman origins and within the historic center you can admire the medieval castle (10th century), the Ser Ivano tower, the church of San Giovanni Battista and the towering Ezzelino Tower in Piazza Garibaldi. The important Civic Museum houses numerous paintings from the Da Ponte collection, engravings and prints by the Remondini family, as well as plaster busts and drawings by Antonio Canova. The visit to Bassano cannot end before having crossed the Ponte Vecchio over the Brenta, entirely built in wood and covered, owes its particular shape to the sixteenth-century project by Andrea Palladio.
