Historical capital of the “Sette Comuni” district, it rises in the center of the undulating basin of the plateau to which it gives its name. This is the land of the ancient Cimbri people, people of Nordic origin who colonized the plateau many centuries ago. The current inhabited center was entirely rebuilt after the First World War which, in the whole area, had a particularly bloody theater. The narrow streets of the center are dotted with shops dedicated to tourist shopping and winter sports. There is also a multitude of bars, restaurants, pizzerias and hotels, which make it one of the capitals of mountain tourism, Asiago being one of the great winter sports destinations, with a myriad of ski slopes distributed throughout the plateau.
